Lee County moving forward with ‘doggy dining’ amendment

Judy Houley couldn’t imagine what a cup of coffee would be like without her idea of the perfect “coffee mate,” her cocker spaniel, “Fenway.”

She says he’s with her at Starbucks seven days a week.

“He’s a great dog,” Houley said.

But even though she loves having coffee with Fenway, having a meal with him would be a different story.

“If we’re having a steak for dinner, we don’t want another dog’s nose near our table,” Houley said.

But she may not get her way. On Tuesday, Lee County commissioners voted to hold two public hearings on a new ‘doggy dining’ amendment.
