Earlier this year, my grandmother had a stroke. Some of my family was with her when it happened, and because they got her to the hospital early enough, she had very little permanent damage. This clever Public Service Announcement from the American Heart Association emphasizes the importance of being able to recognize the symptoms of a stroke in the people in our lives so that they can have the same chance at survival. A lot can be done for stroke victims (like administering clot-busting drugs), but only if they’re in the hospital within a couple hours of having the stroke.
