Inaugural “Sunshine 5K” Run this Saturday, April 22
(April 18, 2017 - Naples, Florida) The inaugural ‘Sunshine 5K Run/Walk’ will be held this Saturday, April 22 at the Vineyards Community Park located at 6231 Arbor Boulevard West in Naples. The 5K will benefit foster children in our community and is being presented by Friends of Foster Children Forever (FFCF).
There is still time to take part; the race will begin at 7:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 7a.m.
Participants will enjoy fun and entertainment from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and will be running to help support the academic mentoring program for local foster children.
To register for the Sunshine 5K, please visit www.friendsoffosterchildren.net. Registration fee before April 21 is $35 and $45 to register on the day of the event. Cash awards will be given to a male and female in each category: overall winner, master, grand master, and senior grand master. Individuals may also register for a one mile run/walk for $10. No charge for children 13 and younger participating in the mile portion.
The event is designed to bring awareness to our community about the foster care system and is being organized by Gulf Coast Runners. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Friends of Foster Children Forever and other agencies that help make a difference in the lives of foster children.
The FFCF mission is to focus on the children they serve by providing targeted educational and enrichment opportunities that allow each child to fulfill his or her potential. The charitable organization works to fulfill the unmet needs of every child who enters, or is at risk of entering the foster care system in Collier, Hendry and Glades Counties.
