Sting’s ‘The Complete Studio Collection’ Due Out June 9

Sting's vinyl box set is getting a little better next month.

On June 9 the Police man will release an expanded edition of The Complete Studio Collection, adding four additional titles -- Songs From The Labyrinth (2006), If On A Winter's Night (2009), Symphonicities (2010) and last year's 57th & 9th, bringing together all 12 of his studio albums in one set.

The albums feature original artwork and newly mastered sound done at Abbey Road studios in London "to ensure exceptional sound quality."

The collection certainly spotlights the diversity of and spirit of adventure in Sting's music, which he tells us is always part of his creative goal:

"My feeling about creativity is it is a very, very mysterious and, um, very difficult to catch animal and you're hunting for it all of the time, so you have to change your methods the whole time because it does, too. You have to trick it somehow, or trick yourself into finding it. So approaching it from a different angle, a surprising angle, a different method than you've used before always reaps the benefits...You can't just rely on pushing the same buttons like a monkey in a maze will. Otherwise you'll wind up with the same banana, and, you know, I'm not really interested in getting the same banana very time."

Sting is currently touring to promote 57th & 9th with dates in Mexico before heading to southeast Asia and Europe before returning to North America in September.
