SWFL News Update January 5th

Snow totals over a foot in many places…high tides, flooding, air-travel cancellations, The bomb cyclone is all it was reported to be as people from Georgia to Maine are dealing with some of the wildest weather they’ve ever seen….and it’s not over yet…the deep freeze continues…

In NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio said that with the wind chill, it could feel like minus 20 degrees tonight and Saturday night…

 

Here in Florida, our uncharacteristically cold weather has presented a unique problem. Iguanas falling from the trees. They’re not dead…merely stunned by the near freezing temperatures…Experts say it won’t stay cold long enough here in SW Florida to kill off a significant portion of the iguana population

 

2 local fishermen were  reported as missing following a fishing tournament on Lake Okechobee…Bill Kidiah was found safe late last night…but as of this morning the whereabouts of his fellow fisherman Nik Kayler  are unclear.

Longtime SW Florida businessman Scott Fischer is selling his Harley-davidson dealerships in Naples and Fort Myers to a company called TMCFM. Fischer announced the sale of Naples Harley-Davidson and Six Bends Harley Davidson yesterday. He says he’ll continue to own and operate Top-Rocker Field, which is adjacent to the Six Bends complex.

 

Someone is SWFL is holding a lottery ticket worth $11 million. The Winn-Dixie on Bayshore Road sold a winning lottery ticket last evening. The winner has yet to come forward.
