What SWFL Is Talking About February 20th
Nikolas Cruz, accused in last week’s deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, returned to court yesterday for a short hearing on his case. The Judge ruled a defense motion filed last week would remain sealed from public view.
In a second court hearing, not attended by Cruz the judge ordered the release of sections of a mental health assessment of Cruz by the Florida Department of Children and Family Services. Parts of that report have already shown up online.
Locally…A student at Palmetto Ridge High School was arrested for allegedly having a knife on campus. 18 year old Benjamin Mendoza was taken into custody after causing what police are calling a “disruption” at the school. The Collier County Sheriff’s office also arrested a 13 year old student at Corkscrew Middle School after finding a knife in his locker.
