With all this beautiful, dry weather comes the threat of fire, and fire was what we got yesterday with 4 large fires across Southwest Florida. The largest fire, in Collier County forced the shutdown of US 41 for a time. There was also a large brush fire in Hendry County in the Montura Ranch Estates area which caused some road closures. Expect these brush fires and road closures to continue until we get some measurable rain.
29 year Georgette Laidlaw of Key Largo has been charged for failure to yield and allegedly causing a crash that killed Marquis Bolduc of Canada over the weekend. The crash occurred on State Road 29 near the intersection of Oil Well Rd in Immokalee.
Collier County deputies have arrested a man they say struck a driver while children were in the car. 35 year Olindo Lucas has been charged with battery. He was taken to the Naples Jail Center
