The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Safety Act passed the State Senate yesterday. The measure includes banning the sale and use of bump stocks, and raising the age to buy a firearm from 18-21 The measure also includes the requirement of a 3-day waiting period for gun purchases , and would give police more power to seize weapons and ammunition from people who are seen as a threat or mentally ill. The bill now goes to the House .
Accused Zombicon killer Jose Raul Bonilla was back in court yesterday for his arraignment. A plea of not guilty was entered on Bonilla’s behalf. A motions hearing scheduled for yesterday was postponed at the request of Bonilla’s attorney David Brener.
The Cape Coral City Council was busy yesterday approving construction of new sidewalks near the Northwest Softball complex and by Trafalgar Middle and Elementary Schools. They also implemented new regulations for gas station owners to prevent credit card skimmers, and they approved the planned non-profit, no-kill Cape Coral Animal Shelter which will be built near Sunsplash.
