Surveillance video that shows events outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School during the shooting last month should be released to the public and the media according to a Florida judge.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office and Parkland School Board objected to the video being released because it was evidence in an active investigation.
Police are on the hunt for a man responsible for a carjacking and a robbery at a 7-11 store. Police say a man pulled a gun and carjacked a vehicle outside the PDQ restaurant on Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers. Police believe he was responsible for a later robbery at a 7-11 on Ryffel Way. The suspect is described as a white male, 5-10-6 feet tall. He was driving a Honda Insight, the vehicle he allegedly car jacked.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing that occurred yesterday on Fort Myers Beach at 1300 Main Street. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
Dan Sinclair, a former candidate for Lee County Supervisor of Elections was arrested yesterday in connection to a deadly hit and run back in 2016 that killed Adam King. Another suspect in the case, Adam Costello pleaded no contest to fleeing the scene of the accident and tampering with evidence. He was given a 10 and a half year sentence. Police are charging Sinclai with perjury, obstructing an officer without violence and tampering with evidence.
We have an ID on the motorcyclist killed Sunday in a crash on US41 near Alico Road. Police say 63 year old James Gruetzmacher was killed when he ran a red light and was hit by another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
