The popular Cape Coral Cardboard Boat Regatta scheduled for later this month has been canceled due to the presence of a high level coliform bacteria in the Bimini Basin. The problem seems to stem from boat owners docked in the basin who are dumping their waste overboard. City officials say they are taking action to clean up the basin.


Cape Coral Police have again arrested 34 year old Dawn Weidtmann, her fifth arrest in the last 15 years. This time she’s facing multiple charges including hit and run, and resisting an officer  after an incident that began at the Cape Coral Yacht Club. Child Protective Services is also investigating the incident.


Cape Police also arrested Rita Worrall and charged her with three counts of drug possession and driving with a suspended licnse. Police say she was transporting drugs in a car owned by an elderly man she was living with and taking care of.


Cape Police also looking for an Uber Eats driver who used a passengers phone and charged $50 worth of fast food. Uber has agreed to help police locate the hungry driver.


Sports News: It makes sense that a man named Fly should coach the FGCU Eagles, as Joe Dooley’s assistant and Interim Head Coach Michael Fly has been officially named head coach of the FGCU Basketball program. Fly has college and pro experience, and he’s signed a 3 year deal.
