It's safe to swim in the water at the Cape Coral Yacht Club Beach. Florida Department of Health Officials tested the water yesterday and lifted the advisory that had been in effect since last week due to high levels of bacteria. They'll be back to re-check the water next week.
A Cape Coral man called 911 on himself and ended up being charged with producing marijuana in his home. Cape police got a 911 call and the caller was unable to speak. When they went to the home where the call originated on SW 7th Street they found Joseph Maneri screaming in pain, and a bedroom with a small marijuana growhouse operation. Maneri has a medical marijuana card, but doesn't have clearance to grow marijuana, so he was arrested.
Investigators handling the case say accused killer Lois Riess will be extradited to Florida in next 10 days. She will face 2nd degree murder, grand theft and additional charges, but won't face the death penalty. Reiss remains in a Texas jail.
A student in Sarasota, is on the hot seat for a video of his racist prom proposal. In the video high school senior Noah Crowley posted his "promposal" on Snapchat In the video, he holds up a sign that reads: "If I was black I'd be picking cotton, but I'm white so I'm picking U 4 prom."
The Sarasota County School District responded to Crowley's post by calling it "racist in nature." Thes incident remains an on-going investigation and any disciplinary action will be made accordingly.
