What SWFL Is Talking About May 4th
Island Coast High School is on high alert this morning as school officials discovered a threat to the school written in a bathroom stall. The school is open, but extra security will be provided.
Lee County deputies were on the scene at US 41 and Beacon Manor Drive overnight where they found a dead body in the woods. No further information is available.
Lois Reiss will remain in jail as attorney’s from both sides agreed to keep the alleged murderer behind bars. Reiss is charged with 2nd degree murder in connection with the killings of her husband and a female tourist on Fort Myers Beach.
Jorge Guerrero Torres, has been charged with first degree murder in the disappearance of 9 year old Diana Alvarez who went missing in May of 2016 and has never been found. Gurrerro Torres had been arrested on child porn charges in connection with the case, he was sentenced to 40 years in prison on that charge. This new indictment charges him with first degree murder, kidnapping and lewd and lascivious molestation.
Back to the drawing board for those that oppose Florida’s red-light camera rule. The Florida Supreme Court has rejected an argument that red-light cameras are illegal. The law had been challenged after a man received a ticket in Aventura back in 2011.
