Friends and family members gathered at a local church yesterday for a service in honor of Diana Alvarez on what would have been the missing girl’s 11th birthday. Alvarez has been missing since late May 2016, and her body has never been found. Jorge Guerrerro Torres was recently charged with murder in connection with her case.

Traffic Note for the weekend: The intersection of Daniels Parkway and Gunnery Road at State Road 82 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m Monday. Crews are repairing and replacing drainage pipes in that area. The eastbound and westbound lanes on SR 82 will remain open.
