Lee County Deputies responding to a call last night, got involved in a second incident when a car came speeding down Royal Palm Park Road in Tice and refused to stop. That’s when one of the officers shot into the back of the speeding vehicle. Police have made no arrests and the investigation is continuing.
There could be a vote at tonight’s Cape Coral City Council meeting to decrease protections for bald eagle nests in the city. The new measure would reduce the protected area of active nests from a 1,100-foot radius to 660 feet to be consistent with state and federal guidelines. Today’s meeting begins at 4:30. Also to be discussed at today’s council meeting is a possible ban on alcohol sales in the city during emergency situations like hurricanes.
The seniors of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School were greeted by a surprise guest speaker at their graduation yesterday.
