Leon County Circuit Court Judge Karen Gievers has lifted a stay on smokable medical marijuana. The stay will be lifted this coming Monday. Smokable marijuana will be available at treatment centers once the Department of Health comes up with rules for cultivation and distribution.
19 year old Austin Grimm of Cape Coral was arrested late last week after running a red light in the Cape, and after a traffic stop he was found to be in possession of marijuana, marijuana wax and drug paraphernalia. He’s facing charges including drug possession. His arraignment is scheduled for June 27th.
The Lee County School Board has voted to give Superintendent Greg Adkins a new 3 year contract with a hefty 13 percent raise. The Superintendent’s salary will rise from $185 thousand to $209 thousand per year.
Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for the shooting death of Priscilla Torres of Naples. Jaime Plasencia allegedly killed Torres in Miami, stole he car and later set it on fire. He’s been charged with first degree murder.
