Senator Bill Nelson, locked in a tough re-election battle for his seat with Governor Rick Scott, came to Southwest Florida yesterday to discuss our water difficulties and possible solutions for the toxic blue-green algae we’ve been seeing in the Caloosahatchee River, and in our local canals.
He pledged, as he has in the past to help clean up the Caloosahatchee. He said he’s waiting for an announcement from the Army Corps of Engineers in the coming days to accelerate the schedule to fix the dike around Lake Okeechobee which will help, and he’s in favor of building a reservoir to divert lake water to the south.
You’ve probably heard about the Brouhaha between a Fort Myers Police Officer and Burger King. Officer Tim McCormick took to social media and alleged that a Burger King employee appeared to have put dirt on his burger. Well an investigation by the owner, which included a review of the videotape of his order being put together revealed that the burger in question did not have dirt on it. It was seasoning or char from the flame broiling process. McCormick viewed the video himself and determined that the employee was not at fault.
