A body found over the weekend in the Imperial River has been identified as a Bonita Springs woman missing since the Fourth of July. Maria Gomez body was found Saturday by kayakers. The investigation into the cause of death is continuing.
55 year old Charles Jenkins of Fort Myers has been arrested in Northern California after an incident at a bar. Jenkins is a registered sex offender here in Florida and also in Oregon. He returns to court next month.
A church group from Cape Coral is still attempting to get back home after getting caught up in rioting in Haiti over high gas prices. Members of the Cape Christian Fellowship were scheduled to return Saturday, but were prevented from doing so after violence broke out.
