Dead fish are rotting on the shore of Pine Island and Boca Grande due to red tide….Toxic blue/green algae is plaguing the waters of the Caloosahatchee and area canals and tributaries with no relief in sight. We are in the midst of an environmental disaster with no easy solutions , and it’s just a matter of time before we start to feel in the economic impact.
Police have arrested a Collier County man and charged him with 8 felonies. According to police Antonio Rosas backed his car into a crowd of 8 people eating at an East Naples grocery store over the weekends , injuring one seriously. His charges include DUI and hit and run.
The city of Fernandina Beach has reopened it’s beaches after 2 shark attacks over the weekends. The attacks happened within minutes of each other Friday and a 17 year old and 30 year old were injured. Both are excepted to be OK.
Dr. Frederick W. Schaerf, who , founded the Neuropsychiatric Research Center of Southwest Florida passed away yesterday from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis he was 67.
Schaerf, created the only research center in Lee, Collier, Charlotte and Hendry-Glades counties dedicated to Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementia.
