Funeral arrangements have been announced for fallen Fort Myers Police Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller. A visitation will be held Sunday, August 5 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Gendron Funeral Home in Fort Myers. It will be open to the public.
The full honors funeral ceremony will be Monday, August 6, at 12 p.m. at Germain Arena and will also be open to the public.
Meanwhile, the man accused of shooting Jobbers-Miller was denied bond during a court appearance yesterday. He’s now been charged with 9 different crimes including premeditated homicide.
The body of a Fort Myers teen has been found in Tel Aviv Israel. Teniya Jones was traveling with a group of students in Israel when she decided to go swimming in the Mediterranean Sea and Jones was pulled out to by a strong current. Her body was recovered several hours later.
The State of Florida has authorized 3 million dollars in funds earmarked to clean up the algae bloom and some of that money will be coming to Lee County to aid in the removal of the toxic bloom. Tentative plans are to remove some of the clumps of algae, then move it to South Lee County. The Army Corps of Engineers will hold an informational meeting on the algae today at 12:30 at the Yacht Club Ballroom.
