Beach clean up continues today in Lee County with the company Crowder Gulf bringning in mnapower and heavy equipment to help towns plagued by red tide and algae caused fish kills. Residents who want to volunteer to aid in the clean up can come to Sanibel Causeway, Lyn Hall, Bowditch Point and Crescent Beach Family Park on Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Beach where large dumpsters are located. Bring a plastic bag, gloves and anything you’ll need to protect yourself.
Authorities say that more than 400 sea turtles have been killed in our area by the red tide outbreak.
Police are looking into what they’re calling a domestic related homicide after a woman, identified as Tina Newhouse was found dead in her home on San Jose Street in North Fort Myers. No further information is known at this time.
Police have arrested 19 year old Joel Rodriguez and charged him with sexual battery and led and lascivious battery after an incident at Plaka Restaurant on Fort Myers Beach Tuesday. Police say Rodriguez sexually assaulted a 14 year old girl in the restaurants men’s room he’e being held on 100 thousand dollars bail.
