24 year old Cullen Roe is in the Lee County jail charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of his roommate Kody Detling. Police say Roe allegedly stabbed Detling during an argument at their Cape Coral condo. Roe will appear before a judge today.
The State Attorney’s Office has released hundreds of photos connected to the murder investigation of Lois Reiss, accused in the murders of her husband in Minnesota and a tourist on Ft. Myers Beach. The images include photos of Reiss’s Fort Myers Beach victim Pamela Hutchinson, pictures of Reiss driving Hutchinson’s car, weapons and bloody clothing among others. Reiss will be back in court on October 31st.
Red tide counts remain high and toxic blue green algae shows no signs of slowing down, but despite full-scale clean up efforts, most environmentalists believe that we may have to deal with red tide and algae until temperatures begin to drop. Marine life continues to suffer as well. According to the Florida Wildlife Research Institute, more than 450 stranded and dead sea turtles have been recovered in Lee, Collier, Charlotte and Sarasota counties this year. A 2nd state of emergency has been declared in Lee County.
