Congressman Francis Rooney will be in Southwest Florida today. Rooney will tour the areas hardest hit by the algae bloom and red tide. He’ll start his tour at Paradise Marina in North Fort Myers. He’ll also visit Fort Myers Beach and Clewiston. He’ll be joined by offcials from the Department of Environmental Conservation.
Police are warning residents to be on the lookout for a door to door scammer, who claims to be from Xfinity. A Lehigh Acres homeowner caught the man trying to enter her home illegally , after she ignored his knock on the door. He was able to getaway, police are investigating.
It looks like the Margaritaville Resort on Fort Myers Beach will be delayed for a bit following the filing of a lawsuit by an Island resident who claims the development would not be consistent with the Fort Myers Beach Comprehensive Plan. The lawsuit could push back construction plans by several months.
Oakes Farms in Naples has announced that they’ve signed a contract with the Department of Defense that will pay the company close to $50 million dollars over the length of the 5 year contract. Oakes Farms will provide fresh fruit and vegetables that will be shipped to Department of Defense facilities in North Florida.
