Lee County Deputies are investigating a possible threat to Riverdale High School. A student reported earlier this week that they had found a note on a desk in the school’s auditorium that read “shooting up the school 4-12” and was signed by the initials C.B. It’s not clear how long that note may have been in the auditorium. School officials and School Resource Officers have deemed the threat not credible.
Effective immediately, The Lee and Collier County school districts are prohibiting backpacks and other large bags to sporting events in the wake of last week’s fatal shooting at a high school football game in Jacksonville. Expect increased security when you attend games as well.
After hitting some snags yesterday, a pilot program to reduce algae build up in Cape Coral canals is set to begin this morning. The project , by a firm called Ecological Laboratories will use a natural bacteria instead of a chemical compound to kill the algae’s food source.
