Police continue to investigate a body found in a Golden Gate canal yesterday. The dead man has been identified as 18 year old Anthony Green who had been reported missing Saturday night. Police say Green got into an altercation at a party Saturday night and tried to get away but got stuck in the canal.
57 year old Mara McCabe has been arrested on arson charges for allegedly setting her father’s house on fire in the Tropicana Mobile Home Park in the Iona-McGregor area. Her father was in Hope Hospice at the time of the fire which damaged several adjacent homes. The house is a total loss.
Police have arrested 29 year old Yeimarie Colon-Martinez on battery charges. Police say the Fort Myers woman allegedly stabbed her husband in the butt to prevent him from going out Saturday night. He refused treatment at the scene.
The Cape Coral City Council has decided to waive the bidding process for algae clean-up efforts. It’s hoped that by streamlining the process it will limit the amount of time it takes to implement clean up efforts. While the presence of red tide at area beaches has subsided somewhat, the blue-green algae in the Cape’s canals is as bad as ever. The city is considering several approaches to removing the algae, including a partnership with Ecological Laboratories.
