Traffic on Del Prado Boulverad was shut down for a time Saturday when a woman crossed the median and crashed her SUV into Fins Seafood and Dive Bar. The woman, who has not been identified, died in the crash. None one in the restaurant was injured.
The Estero Mayor says it doesn’t fit in with the town’s preferred style, Council members have expressed reservations, and residents have weighed in with complaints as well, but despite the opposition, Hertz still plans on painting the exterior of the Germain…soon to be Hertz Arena a bright yellow. Hertz says it’s proud of it’s exterior building design because it reflects their iconic brand. A vote is expected on the design next month.
Despite the fact that two lawsuits have been filed, plans to build the Fort Myers Beach Margaritaville Resort are moving forward. Demolition of some of the old buildings where the 7 acre resort will sit is planned for next month. Margaritaville will feature a 254 room hotel, with restaurants shops and a water park.
Today is the last day on the job for Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott. Scott is retiring for family and personal reasons. Undersheriff Carmine Marceno has been appointed to finish Scott’s term.
Tiger Woods, wearing his trademark red shirt, won his first tournament in five years on Sunday by taking the Tour Championship. The victory comes after Tiger struggled through a myriad of personal and physical problems, including back surgery.
Gun Drawn Over Bruno Mars Song
- A debate between two friends over a Bruno Mars song turned violent in Indiana. Roger Washburn, 71, is looking at a battery charge after the argument that went down with his friend of 50 years at his home.
- A man said they were hanging out at Washburn’s home when the scuffle over the song started. When the man proved to Washburn the song in question was Bruno Mars, even though Washburn said it wasn’t, he pulled out a weapon.
- The two continued to argue, and then the man called Washburn “chicken sh**” when he pulled out the gun causing Washburn to strike the man with the gun.
- Washburn admitted to hitting his friend in the face after his friends went to police about the incident, and was taken to jail. No word on what Bruno Mars song the friends were arguing about, but it must’ve been a good one.
