A shooting incident overnight. It doesn’t appear anyone was hurt, but police responded to a report of shots fired at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and Valerie Shoemaker Boulevard. They’re continuing their investigation.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office announced it has arrested ten suspects and found them with more than 250 cloned credit cards and nearly $20,000 in fraudulent charges. All ten suspects were involved in a scheme to clone credit cards and steal diesel fuel. Two additional suspects were arrested last week in connection with this case.
Lee County is changing it’s algae strategy and ending it’s project with AECOM which has been vacuuming the algae out of Cape Coral and North Fort Myers canals. Lee County also has a pledge for another $1.1 million from the state to clean up the effects of red tide along the shoreline. Lee County Communications Director Betsy Conte said reconnaissance flights and surveys on foot have shown that the algae blooms in canals are dissipating somewhat. Solitude Lake Management will begin its nanobubble technology system to try to battle the blue-green algae.
McDonald’s Says Most of Its Burgers Are Now (Almost) All Natural
- If you’re looking to eat healthier when you go through the McDonald’s drive-thru then you have more options to choose from. McDonald’s announced that they have removed “almost all” of the preservatives in their Quarter Pounder and Big Mac’s.
- McDonald’s announced on Wednesday that they will remove artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives from most of the burgers and chicken nuggets, a different cheese will be used and the fast food chain vows to switch to cage-free eggs by 2025.
- So what are the items that will continue to contain preservatives? The hamburger pickle, Egg McMuffin; the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit; Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddles and the Filet-O-Fish sandwich.
- Bonnie Taub-Dix, RDN, author of “Read It Before You Eat It – Taking You from Label to Table,” tells Today Food, “the less healthy dishes are still the ones that I see advertised as having the special, lower prices.”
Cher’s Malibu Home Swarmed by Cops
- The home of Cher was under siege today and the sob of her assistant was arrested for supplying narcotics to someone who had died.
- TMZ is reporting that 23-year-old Donovan Ruiz was taken into custody and charged with the felony.
- The arrest of Ruiz is in connection with the overdose death of a Ventura County resident in mid-September. Ruiz lives in Cher’s home.
- The website reports that Cher was not at home at the time of the arrest. She is currently touring in Australia.
- Will Cher have to come home from her tour to deal with this matter? Does this mean drugs were being dealt out of Cher’s home with or without her knowledge?
