A deadly accident on I-75 during morning rush hour yesterday killed one person and injured three others including an infant. The crash occurred just past the Bayshore Road exit Southbound on the interstate. 58 year old Johnny Coleman of Port Charlotte died at the scene of the crash.
Senate Bill 60 passed the Commerce and Tourism Committee earlier this week, the bill would provide a sales tax break on the sale of diapers and incontinence products. If the bill passes it would go into effect in January 2020.
Naples Police arrested two women who used a baby stroller to steal items from Macy’s at the Coastland Center. Monique Askew and her underage partner Sania Nerval allegedly attempted to steal over $1,000 worth of clothing before being caught by a store employee. Askew was taken to the Naples Jail, Nerval to the Juvenile Justice Center.
Governor DeSantis will be in Bonita Springs today to announce a major water initiative in cooperation with FGCU. That announcement will be made at 8:30.
25-year-old Shomayo Morgan and 26-year-old Jermaine Fyffe were arrested by Marco Island Police Tuesday night after targeting an attacking an elderly man, stealing his car and then leading police on a high speed chase. They eventually crashed the man’s Audi. Police also found a gun, mask and gloves in the car and Fyffe suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both men are in custody.
