 Governor Ron DeSantis has named  Sanibel city councilman Chauncey Goss to the board of the South Florida Water Management District. The governor made the announcement yesterday at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center in Naples. The Governor has  requested that all nine board members resign,  and he said  that Goss “has a clear record of supporting and preserving Florida’s natural resources.” Governor DeSantis also rolled out a plan that includes $625 million for water resources projects, including Everglades restoration.

 

 

 

 

  • R&B singer James Ingram has died at the age of 66.
  • His good friend Debbie Allen shared the news on social media describing the singer as a “dear friend” and “creative partner.”
  • James was nominated for 14 Grammy’s and two Academy Awards throughout his long career.
  • He won awards for his track ‘Baby Come To Me’ and his duet with Michael McDonald, “Yah Mo B There.”
  • His reported cause of death was brain cancer.

 

 

Chicago Will Be Colder Than Antarctica Or Siberia On Wednesday

  • Just how cold is this week’s midwestern polar vortex get?  On Wednesday, it will be colder in Chicago than in Antarctica, Siberia, or the top of Mt. Everest.
  • Local forecasters are predicting temps to reach a record low of 20 below zero on Wednesday.
  • And it won’t just be the Windy City – more than 90 million people in the U.S. will experience below-zero temps this week.  John Gagan with the National Weather Service is calling it ‘once in a generation’ cold.
