Federico Fernandez, the chairman of the South Florida Water Management District Governing Board announced he’ll be stepping down from the board at the request of Governor DeSantis after the February board meeting. Fernandez made the announcement in a memo, saying he was proud of the work of the board during his tenure, but it’s clear the Governor has his own vision for the Water Management District. Two other board members announced their resignations yesterday as well. Governor DeSantis will be back in Southwest Florida today, speaking at Ida Baker high School.
