The beach is open but, The Florida Dept of Health has posted a health advisory for Tigertail Beach on Marco Island due to high bacteria levels.

 

Governor Ron DeSantis announced yesterday his plan to attract teachers to the state. That plan includes a $9,000 bonus for teachers if they excel at their job, plus bonus incentives for principals. The plan must still be approved by Florida lawmakers before it any changes are made.

 

A controversial Fort Myers restaurant, The Fly Lounge, that has been operating as a nightclub, and attracting the attention of local authorities, may be forced to close after a Lee County Circuit Court Judge ruled with a property owner in the eviction case against the club. The attorney for the operators of The Fly Lounge say they plan to fight the eviction.

A City Commissioner in Madeira Beach has resigned  after the former City Manager accused her of licking his face and grabbing him in a suggestive manner. Nancy Oakley maintains her innocence and she has 30 days to appeal her firing.
Baseball great and the games first Black manager, Frank Robinson has passed away. He was 83.
