Lady Gaga won the first GRAMMY awarded on the televised segment of the annual award show.
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper won the GRAMMY for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song “Shallow” from the hit film A Star Is Born. Although the win would not be considered a surprise win, Gaga looked shocked and genuinely moved. She used her speech to thank her co-star/duet partner/director, Bradley Cooper. “Thank you so much,” she said.
“I gotta thank God, thank you for looking out for me. Thank you I wish Bradley was here with me, he’s at the BAFTAs,” referring to the BAFTA Awards, which are taking place tonight in England. “Bradley, I loved singing this song with you. I was so proud to be part of a movie that addresses mental health issues. A lot of artists deal with that, we gotta take care of that, if you see someone that’s hurting don’t walk away.”
She noted that she didn’t know if she’ll get another chance to speak on that subject, meaning she wasn’t sure “Shallow” would win any more awards this season. We’re betting that between the rest of tonight’s GRAMMYs, and the Oscars in two weeks, she may have a few more acceptance speeches to make.
