Thousands gathered at Hertz Arena yesterday to honor the memory of Lieutenant Daniel Hinton, a 32 year veteran who died last week during a training exercise in Fort Myers. Among the speakers, his wife, former colleagues and Governor Ron DeSantis. Following the service, Hinton received a ceremonial 21 gun salute.

61 year old Luis Garcia of Cape Coral was killed in a construction accident in Punta Gorda yesterday when he was pinned underneath a forklift. He later died at Bayfront Hospital

 

A cheeseburger craving was apparently more important than stopping for police and for that 24 year old Tiara Crace was arrested in Cape Coral this past weekend. She’s facing 2 counts of fleeing and eluding law enforcement and resisting without violence. After police attempted to make a traffic stop, Crace refused to stop and continued into the Coral Lakes community. She was later apprehended. According to the officers report she didn’t stop for police because she was hungry and wanted a cheeseburger.

 

Science Agrees Girls Trips Are Good For Your Mental Health

  • If you’ve been thinking of planning a girls trip then you may want to solidify your plans because your mental health depends on it.
  • A recent study says that being with friends releases oxytocin which is commonly known as the “love” or “cuddle” hormone. Having more oxytocin in your body makes you feel trusting, empathetic and happy.

A Star Is Born’ Returns To Theaters

  • You’ll have a chance to see A Star Is Born in theaters again…this time with some add-ons.
  • The movie will be re-released this Friday with 12 minutes of extra footage and one additional song that wasn’t in the original version.
  • The one-week run is in celebration of Lady Gaga’s Academy Award win for Best Original Song. She performed Shallow with Bradley Cooper at the Oscars. It was one of the most talked-about moments of the show.

 

FedEx Robot Could Be Coming To Your Door

  • Soon you could have orders from your favorite stores delivered quickly by a robot.
  • FedEx is testing a last mile delivery robot that will bring you items from local Walmart, Target, Lowes, AutoZone and Pizza Hut locations.
  • FedEx said that more than 60 percent of customers live within 3 miles of a store. The robot will help with same day, on-demand delivery.
  • Testing of the robot will begin sometime this summer. Most likely it will happen in FedEx’s hometown of Memphis.

 

Woman Spends $1,500 On Plastic Surgery For ‘Ugly’ Cat

  • We all know someone who obsesses a little too much over their pets.  But hopefully they’re not as bad as a woman who dropped $1500 on plastic surgery for her cat’s “ugly” eyes.
  • The woman in Nanjing, China decided her feline’s eyes were ‘ugly’, so she took the cat in for an eyelid operation called a ‘blepharoplasty’, which adds a ‘crease’ to the eyelids.  A local TV station showed pictures of the cat recovering with red, swollen eyes.
  • Predictably, people let the woman have it on social media, calling the procedure unnecessary and cruel, even suggesting she was guilty of torture.  A pet hospital employee said the double-eyelid surgery is common for dogs who compete in dog shows.
