What SWFL Is Talking About 3/7

We'll be setting our clocks ahead this weekend as we transition into Daylight Savings Time, and 3 of our legislators,  Senators Rubio and Scott and Representative Vern Buchanan have introduced the Sunshine Protection Act to Congress which would make Daylight Savings Time permanent, year-round all across the country. Florida approved a similar bill last year. It's still awaiting federal approval.

 

Two senior citizen boaters who went missing earlier this week were found alive off the coast of Naples. 72 year old Brian Daugherty and 81 year old Joe Nita were found by the Coast Guard in their rented boat. The two men had gotten lost, and then their boat ran out of fuel.

 

A childish prank has landed a Charlotte County man in jail. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office says 54 year old Kenneth Callow allegedly carved his initials on several freshly-poured concrete slabs along Harbor Boulevard in Port Charlotte. He was identified on surveillance video. Total cost of the damage close to $12,000. Callow is now facing 3 felony counts of criminal mischief.

 

Police have caught up with the Cape Coral mouse thief. Keven Vogenberger is accused of stealing about $100 worth of mice from Discount Pets and Supplies in the Cape. Police say the suspect was also caught on surveillance video stealing lightbulbs from the store

 

More trouble for R. Kelly. He was taken into custody  during a hearing over his unpaid child support. Reportedly, Kelly owes over $200,000 to his ex-wife. His next court date is March 13.
