School bus safety is on the minds of the entire Southwest Florida community as fundraisers and meetings continue with a number of recommendations being made. An organization called "Lights For Layla has raised more than $80,000, and the Lee County School Board met with the Lee County Sheriff's Office yesterday to come up with common sense solutions to the issue for not only Cape Coral, but other Southwest Florida cities and towns.

Scott Duguette of New Port Richey has been arrested on child neglect charges, police say he dropped his one year old child after overdosing on pain medication and smoking marijuana. His seven year old child called police who revived him with Narcan. No word on the condition of the one year old.

Governor DeSantis announced that he'll sign an executive order , bringing back the Office of Drug Control which was closed by Governor Scott back in 2011. Attorney General Ashley Moody will lead an opioid task force as part of the department. The Governor also named Scott Rivkees from the University of Florida as Surgeon General of the state. His duties will include leading the State Department of Health

Report: Jagger to Undergo Heart Surgery

Following news that the Rolling Stones have postponed their North American tour we now learn that frontman Mick Jagger may have heart surgery this week.
According to the Drudge Report, citing "unidentified sources," the 75-year-old rocker will have surgery in New York to place a stent.
According to a band announcement on Saturday, all US and Canada dates have been postponed. It didn't specifically say what medical treatment the singer was receiving but did note that a full recovery is expected.

61-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth To Her Own Granddaughter

Most parents dream of having a grandchild one day, but a 61-year-old Nebraska woman decided to take care of business herself, by giving birth to her own granddaughter as a surrogate.
Cecile Eledge wanted her son Matthew and his husband Elliot to have a child of their own, so she volunteered to be a surrogate. Last week, she gave birth to 5-pound, 13 ounce Uma Louise, who was conceived from Matthew's sperm and eggs donated by Elliot's sister.
Eledge was approved as a surrogate despite having gone through menopause 10 years ago. Doctors say Eledge was an 'exceptional case' and that her outstanding health made it possible.
The hardest part? Giving up coffee for nine months, which Eledge says she didn't even do when Matthew was born 32 years ago.

Hangover-Free Synthetic Alcohol Is Currently In Development

Imagine going out for a few drinks without having a hangover the following day, that is the dream of Imperial College London's director of the neuropsychopharmacology unit David Nutt.
Nutt has helped to develop 90 compounds that will make you feel tipsy but won’t give you dry mouth, headaches or nausea.
Nutt originally predicted that his synthetic alcohol would replace traditional alcohol by 2050, but it looks like you could be drinking it in the next five years.
Nutt has a name for his synthetic creation, Alcarelle, which he is eager to see how the industry will use the alcohol, saying "The drinks industry employs really creative people."

Science Confirms Women Are Still Exhausting Themselves Both At Work And At Home

The 2018 McKinsey Report recently released its findings on how exhausted women are. When it comes to work, out of 100 men who get promotions only 79 women get the same opportunity.
The survey looks at 300 workplaces and 13 million people, with 35 percent of women being sexually harassed and 55 percent of those in senior-level positions reporting sexual harassment.
At the current rate, researchers say that women won’t see a close in the wage gap for over 200 years, at home women are the main caregivers and because they make less than their male counterparts, they are usually chosen to quit working if a child or elder becomes sick.
To make things better for women the McKinsey report suggests awareness, earning transparency, better policies, and support at home.
