Camila Cabello’s Battle With Anxiety: Her Powerful Instagram Message To Fans
Like many people, Camila Cabello struggles with anxiety. And in a powerful new Instagram message to fans, she’s opening up to let her followers know that they’re not alone and it does get better.
Over the weekend, Cabello wrote a lengthy two-part post that covered her journey with anxiety. She recalled hearing stories about singers who started performing in talent shows as kids. “I was the opposite,” she wrote, “I never ever sang in front of my parents or friends and would get flustered when they would ask me to.” She added, “I was generally incredibly nervous and socially anxious when I was little, and people always have this look of disbelief when I tell them that.”
That’s why, her whole life, she’s always thought of there being “two Camila’s in me.” The one that was too scared to sing in front of her parents without breaking into tears, and the other who is “aware of how little time I have to let little Camila run the show while time passes by, and grabs young me by the hand and forces her out the door saying, ‘Let’s go. You’ll survive, and I’m not gonna miss out on this. Let’s go.'”
This is all to say, people can change. “If you haven’t been very brave, or very social, or wild, or an adventure seeker, if you describe yourself as the opposite of those things,” Cabello wrote, “it doesn’t mean you can’t be.”
For those who still don’t think they can become an extrovert, Cabello wants you to know you can. Just look at her. “The essence of me is the same, but I’ve changed so much as a person,” she wrote. “You choose who you’re going to be. Force yourself to do what you’re afraid of, always- and go after what you want and who you want to be, because you’re worth that. You’re worth the fight. It’s the most worthwhile one there is.”
However, Cabello has yet to open up about her rumored relationship with Shawn Mendes. For now, fans will just have to watch the video for their new single “Señorita,” and decide what’s going on for themselves.
