A dozen people were removed from a Fort Myers home yesterday due to unsafe and unsanitary living conditions. Among those living in the home were eight children, and an elderly woman. The house is on Lucille Avenue and had rodent infestation, non-working plumbing and was overcrowded. Fentanyl patches were also recovered in the home. The investigation is continuing.
A wolf dog from the Shy Wolf Sanctuary in Naples who jumped over a 10 foot fence and escaped has been found and she’s going to be OK. Eva was tranquilized and returned to the sanctuary. Officials at Shy Wolf said they’ll be reviewing their security procedures to try and prevent this from happening again.
It’s been more than 10 years since Hurricane Charley devastated Punta Gorda, but now FEMA is asking for some of the relief money back from Charlotte County. They want 14.5 million dollars returned from the over 60 million that the county received for clean up funds. Charlotte County officials don’t want to pay the money back and it looks like this matter is headed to court.
Sears, Kmart Closing 26 More Stores
As the Sears-Kmart chain continues to struggle, more than two dozen more locations have been tapped to close. A rep for Transform Company, which owns Sears and Kmart, on Wednesday unveiled plans to shutter 21 Sears stores and five Kmarts in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The company blames the closures on a “generally weak retail environment,” noting the company has “faced a number of challenges returning our stores to sustainable levels of productivity.” The 26 stores represent the latest round of closures for the company, which emerged from bankruptcy in February. Pizza Hut is closing hundreds of its dine-in restaurants
A family favorite is closing hundreds of its dine-in restaurants. Pizza Hut says they want to focus more on the delivery side of their business. Pizza Hut has close to 7,500 dine-in restaurants across the United States. The change would only affect about 500 locations. Are you surprised by the change?
