Elderly Man Credits Coke for Keeping him Alive through 5-Day Ordeal
In a story that has likely left the Coca-Cola marketing department feeling like they’ve won the lottery, an elderly Virginia man credits Coke for saving his life after he fell down in his home. Arlington resident Glenn Smith says he couldn’t get back on his feet after taking a tumble last week, and spent a full five days on the floor, unable to move. The only thing within his reach was an ample supply of Coke, which he credits for getting him through the ordeal. He was finally discovered after his postal carrier noticed his mail was beginning to pile up, police say. “We were horrified and shocked but we were really happy to hear about the Coke, that he could keep himself, you know, alive and OK until help came,” says Smith’s neighbor, Christen Bensten. Smith is expected to fully recover, police say. What’s your favorite soft drink? If you were in a similar situation, what one food or drink would you choose to have at your disposal?
