Taylor Swift ‘Lover’ Video Is A Love Story Set In A Snow Globe
Before dropping her new album Lover, Taylor Swift dropped the title track’s video, which gives a magical, mystical tour through a couple’s romance. Swift’s “Lover” video takes fans inside a snow globe, where two lovers try to keep their romance alive.
“And so it goes,” Swift wrote on Instagram to tease the new video, “you two are dancing in a snow globe round and round.” The video stars Swift and dancer Christian Owens who yes, do slow dance in the clip, but also fight, interior decorate, and swim in a giant fishbowl.
According to Refinery29, the video was inspired by producer Jack Antonoff’s relationship with ex-girlfriend Lena Dunham. During the Lover livestream on Thursday (Aug. 22), Swift revealed that the idea for the “Lover” video came from a line in her 1989 bonus track “You Are In Love.” That track, Swift revealed to MTV in 2014, was about “her best friends” Antonoff and Dunham, who broke up last year.
Luckily, this rainbow-colored video has a happier ending, complete with matching pajamas.
