Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’ Is Already The Best-Selling Album Of 2019
It only took two days for Taylor Swift to break this 2019 record. Swift’s Lover is the best-selling album of the year, bypassing the A Star Is Born soundtrack, according to Billboard.
After dropping on Friday (Aug. 23), Lover had sold 500,000 by the next day, according to the initial sales reports via Nielsen Music. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s 2018 soundtrack has sold 444,000 year-to-date as of the week ending Aug. 22. The A Star Is Born soundtrack has sold a total of over 1.1 million in the U.S. since its Oct. 5, 2018 release.
According to Billboard, Swift’s big opening weekend is the best for any artist since, well, Taylor Swift. Her record Reputation sold over 1.2 million copies in its first week of release in 2017.
Swift celebrated Lover‘s release by posting photos of her fans buying the new album on Twitter. Let’s just say, there are a lot of happy customers. Some even bought more than one copy.
