Miley Cyrus’ ‘Slide Away’ Video Is The Follow-up To ‘We Can’t Stop’
It’s Miley’s party and she’d like it to stop. Miley Cyrus’ “Slide Away” video is the sequel to 2013’s “We Can’t Stop,” which featured a drug-fueled neverending dance party. Once again, it’s her house, but now a little older and perhaps a little wiser, this Miley is just looking for a little peace and quiet.
Cyrus’ new single, her first since her split from husband Liam Hemsworth, has her trying to turn a corner. And in the “Slide Away” video she’s saying goodbye to her past. From the giant teddy bears to the disco balls, Cyrus is so over it. She’s no longer the center of the party. She’d actually just prefer to spend a little time by herself in the pool. It doesn’t feel like a coincidence that she’s at her most Zen just floating around on her own.
As Cosmopolitan points out, there are references to Hemsworth throughout the video including the 10 of hearts card that’s floating at the bottom of the pool. Hemsworth and Cyrus were together 10 years before ending things last month.
