Second Annual Fiesta to Be Held October 15
Signature tacos and side dishes will be prepared by Lee County ProStart High School students in the second annual Taco Cook-Off competition, which will be held on Tuesday, October 15, at the Burroughs Home & Gardens, Fort Myers, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $30.
The competing high schools are East Lee County High School, Estero High School, Oasis High School, Island Coast High School, Lehigh Senior High School, Cape Coral Technical College, and Fort Myers Technical College. The culinary arts students will prepare their entrees for both guests and judges. In addition to the creative food being prepared, there will be live music, raffles, and silent auctions. Several awards will be given, including the Overall Winner.
The event is being sponsored by the Lee County ProStart High School Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) in partnership with the Uncommon Friends Foundation. Proceeds from the event will go towards Lee County’s ProStart program, contributing to student scholarships, classroom supplies and equipment. FRLA is also partnering with Uncommon Friends to raise money for its scholarship program.
