There’s exciting news for fans of OWN’s Queen Sugar, which just offered up a jaw-dropping finale for season four. The Ava Duvernay-directed drama series will be back for season five, as Deadline reports.

Queen Sugar has consistently raked in an average of over 1.5 million viewers weekly during season 4 of the show (which is executive produced by Oprah Winfrey).

Queen Sugar has remained Wednesday’s top-rated television show among African-American women on broadcast cable.

“I’m thrilled to further explore the beauty, pain and triumph of this African-American family, with hopes that their story will continue to resonate with audiences who see themselves in the Bordelons,” DuVernay said of the renewal of the series led by Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Rutina Wesley and Kofi Siriboe-led.

“It’s a real honor to create this work with Warner Horizon and OWN as their support is rock-solid and wonderful,” the When They See Us Emmy nominee added.
