Florida Bars Can Reopen Friday

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis spoke today at Universal Orlando. Visitors returned to the park today and DeSantis spoke about Florida approaching Phase 2 of opening the state back up. He said most things won’t change much. The biggest difference will be allowing bars to reopen.

They’ve been closed for months and have been eager to get the doors open. When Florida reaches Phase 2, bars will be able to open at 50% capacity indoors.

They can operate at full capacity outside. The governor said documents will be signed today and phase 2 will begin Friday.

  Retail businesses should operate at no more than 75% capacity and post signage to direct the flow of customers to promote social distancing.

• Bars, Pubs and Nightclubs

  Bars, pubs, and nightclubs that derive more than 50 percent of sales from alcohol should operate at 50 percent of building capacity with an emphasis on diminished standing room capacity and prioritizing outdoor service.

• Telework

  All employers should continue to encourage teleworking where practical. Employers should begin implementing plans for employees to return to work in phases.
• Travel

• Restaurants

  Restaurants should operate at no more than 75 percent of building capacity. Parties should not exceed 10 people. Businesses should limit inside waiting areas for patrons waiting to be seated. Allow walk-ins but continue to emphasize a reservations-only business model or call ahead seating to manage spacing effectively in restaurant. Outdoor dining areas should continue to be prioritized.

• Vulnerable Populations

  Individuals older than 65 years of age and individuals with a serious underlying medical condition should continue to stay at home.

  Theme parks may consider re-opening with capacity limits, strict social distancing and proper measures to clean and disinfect.

• Movie Theaters, Large Venues

  These venues should utilize strict social distancing protocols and should operate at no more than 75 percent capacity, with a minimum of 6 feet separating parties.
• Disney World
