School District of Lee County Cuts Ties With Oakes Farms
The School District of Lee County has cut ties with Oakes Farm following a controversial Facebook post made by the business owner Alfie Oakes, according to NBC2.
A petition went up calling for the school districts if Collier and Lee counties to cancel their contract with Oaks after he made a Facebook post calling the coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement “hoaxes” and George Floyd a “mindless drug addict.”
Oakes is the owner of Oakes Farms and Seed To Table in Naples.
“The District will soon be working with other suppliers to ensure that fresh fruits and vegetables continue to be provided to our students,” the district said Thursday morning.
