Authorities Are Investigating A Cyclospora Outbreak Believed To Be Tied To Bagged Salad
Make sure you check your lettuce as the FDA and CDC are investigating a cyclospora outbreak tied to the bagged salad by Aldi, Jewel-Osco, and Hy-Vee grocery stores. The alert which went out last week named Little Salad Bar Brand Garden Salad from Aldi, Hy-Vee Brand Garden Salad from Hy-Vee, and Signature Farms Brand Garden Salad from Jewel-Osco as being possibly infected with cyclospora.
The salad has been recalled and removed from store shelves in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that infects the intestinal tract causing diarrhea. 76 people were reported sick and 16 of them were hospitalized, no deaths were reported.
