Florida Now Requiring Proof of Residency For COVID-19 Vaccinations

Florida will now require proof of residency for people getting COVID-19 vaccines after State Surgeon General Dr. Scott Rivkees signed a Public Health Advisory on Thursday.

The new policy applies to state-run vaccination sites and aims to end what many called “vaccine tourism.” Residents will be required to show their Florida ID or a utility bill in order to get the shot.

“The COVID-19 vaccine remains scarce within the United States and vaccine availability in Florida is extremely limited,” the advisory stated.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Florida is currently 1,613,884, according to Florida’s COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard.
