Average Gas Prices In SWFL Rise Above $4
Remember when a $20 in the tank used to get you about halfway? Ahhh, those were the days. If you had to fill up this weekend, I’m sure you noticed the rise in gas prices and today the average price in SWFL has risen above $4.
Today, AAA reports $4.00 as the average price per gallon in Florida (though in SWFL it seems to be closer to $4.20), which is the highest we’ve seen since April 2012.
How high could they go? There’s no telling for sure, however if U.S. oil prices continue to rise, so will the price at the pump.
AAA’s Mark Jenkins explains, “Gas prices are being dragged higher by sky high oil prices, which are surging in response to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Sanctions and regulations against Russia has limited its ability to sell its oil on the global market, thus intensifying global supply concerns in what was already a very tight market due to the pandemic.”
