Video: Bike Week Motorcyclist Drives Off A Daytona Beach Florida Drawbridge
A motorcyclist attending Bike Week in Florida drove off a drawbridge. He wasn’t trying to jump it, he claimed that with the rain he didn’t see the warning lights. This happened in on the Main Street Bridge in Daytona Beach as the motorcyclist almost ended up in the water after running through the traffic arm.
As you can see, the motorcyclist ran right past the arms and luckily fell off the bike before it went over the edge of the rising bridge. The rider, Mark Hagen, said he never saw the traffic arm due to the bad weather. He was heading home to Georgia after spending time at Florida’s Bike Week. Hagen is recovering from back, neck, hip and knee injuries that he sustained in his fall off the bike. The lucky motorcycle rider thinks the Florida drawbridge needs more lighting and signage. So it’s not just here in Southwest Florida that the tourists are causing traffic problems. It’s state wide. Thanks to Travis Daily at QYK for pointing out this video to me.
