May Flowers Cocktail

May Flowers Cocktail from Broken Shed Vodka

Broken Shed Vodka

Today is Earth Day (Friday, April  22) and all week we've seen all kinds of info on being kind to the planet so I thought it would be appropriate to share some Earth Day drinks.

These cocktails, spirits and wines are made from brands that take sustainability and earth friendly practices to heart. They concentrate on recycling, repurposing, lowering their carbon foot print, preserving natural resources, caring for their employees and community, and much more.

I write about food, wine and travel for a number of publications. Here is a story that was published this week featuring a few cool brands and specific bottles to look for in recognition or Earth Day and really any day.

In addition, I found this lovely, refreshing cocktail recipe from Broken Shed Vodka.

The vodka is made in New Zealand using water that is naturally filtered through ancient rock from a 15,000 year old aquifer. It also uses sugar-rich whey from grass-fed cows in the distillation process. Sustainable, environmentally friendly, certified gluten-free, it has richer texture and flavor than many vodkas. $24.99

I'm always looking for something ne to try so here we go.

May Flowers

1.5 oz Broken Shed Vodka
0.5 oz Aperol
0.5 oz fresh lime juice
0.5 oz pineapple juice
0.25 oz simple syrup
Garnish: green Chartreuse and edible flowers

Add ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake and double strain into a chilled coupe. Spray the top of the drink with green Chartreuse and garnish with the edible flowers

If you really want to get creative, here are some additional cocktail recipes.

Cheers to Earth Day drinks and living more sustainably.
