The state of Florida started sending checks to families in the mail this week. But we didn’t know what the requirements were.  Now the requirements for the $450 Florida child checks have been released.

So, the checks, went to 59,000 Florida families and they are to help families “being affected by rising inflation”. The checks are also getting kids ready to go back to school.

The state of Florida also had to come out and tell everyone that the checks were absolutely real.

The recipients received a letter from Governor Ron DeSantis. Part of the letter read, “This one-time payment can be used for anything from buying diapers to fueling up at the pump. I also want to make sure you are aware of our state’s “Back-to-School” sales-tax holiday, which will take place from July 25 through August 7, to help you get the supplies you need to prepare for the upcoming school year…Please accept this payment as a form of gratitude and acknowledgment for all that you do to help nurture Florida’s future. God bless you, and God bless the great state of Florida.”

So the money was sent out to the families based on if they receive assistance from the state already.

“The American Rescue Plan Act created a $1 billion fund to assist needy families affected by the pandemic within the TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) program. The one-time payments ensured that $35.5 million would be received by Florida families,” DCF said about how families were selected to receive the payments. “Had these awards not been made, the funding would have otherwise reverted back to the federal government. Eligibility is based on federal TANF requirements and the state’s TANF plan.”

TANF is a welfare program and is funded by federal dollars and administered by the state of Florida through Department of Children and Families.

Here are requirements for the $450 Florida child checks…

  • Foster Parents
  • Relative Caregivers
  • Non-relative Caregivers
  • Families receiving TANF cash assistance
  • Guardianship Assistance Program participants

11 Florida Resorts With Water Parks

Summer is almost over, but it’s not over yet!  One of these 11 Florida Resorts With Water Parks is the perfect place to take a family vacation, according to Travel + Leisure, before the new school year starts and the day-to-day routine is back in order.

Not everyone is a fan of the beach. Some find it dirty and itchy and the sand can be hard to handle with small kids who might like to eat it.  I speak from experience with my daughter.

If you’re more of a “pool” family, you’re in luck.  These resorts, found throughout our Sunshine State, are the perfect destination for a last minute family vacation before summer comes to a close.  I can’t think of a better way to cool down in this 90 – 100 degree humid heat than going down waterslides or floating in a lazy river.  A drink in hand gets bonus points.  I’m thinking a strawberry daquiri or a raspberry margarita will do.  Anything frozen.  Or maybe a mango or black cherry seltzer?  Or a cold beer with a lime?  Now I’m thirsty and I’ve gotten way off track.  Back to it.

So, if you’re looking for a quick getaway, you’ll definitely want to check out the list of 11 Florida Resorts With Water Parks.
